WHAT IS THE GLOBAL SHAPERS COMMUNITY? 

 

An initiative of the World Economic Forum, the Global Shapers Community is a network of Hubs created and led by young people under 30 who stand out for their potential, achievements, and drive to tackle local, regional, and global challenges. With over 13,000 members, the Global Shapers Community spans 430 Hubs across 150 countries.

The Lyon Hub was founded in 2016 by a group of passionate individuals eager to bring the Global Shapers Community to our beautiful region. Their goal was to provide changemakers under 30 in Lyon with a platform for collaboration to maximize the impact of their initiatives.

WHO CAN APPLY? 

​

If you’re between 18 and 27 years old, based in Lyon, and driven to achieve something extraordinary in social impact, we’d love to meet you!

It doesn’t matter what field you study or work in, or whether you aim to impact 10 people or 100,000 – we want to know what excites you and how joining our community will help you achieve your ambition.

HOW TO APPLY?

​

We welcome new Shapers twice a year, in June and December. Application deadlines for upcoming sessions will be announced soon. To apply, simply complete the application form, and we’ll get back to you.

If you’d like to meet the Lyon Shapers, ask questions, and learn more about the activities and impact of our
Hub before applying, you can also attend one of our Open Hub events (held virtually) organized prior
to each volunteer recruitment session.

APPLICATION PROCESS

 

The application process starts with an application form. We evaluate all submissions based on criteria such as: Social impact achieved, ability to commit time to Hub activities, the value candidates can gain from being part of the Global Shapers Community, skills and expertise candidates can bring to help develop our Hub.

This process ensures that our Hub remains inclusive and representative of our broader community.

Selected candidates will be invited to an interview where we’ll discuss their past experiences, impact, ambitions, and motivations for joining our Hub. These interviews typically take place between late June and early July, and between late November and early December each year.

Our thorough application process is rooted in the principle of equal opportunity—regardless of a candidate’s background. It ensures fair evaluation at every stage and helps guarantee that new members are ready to dedicate the time and energy required to contribute to our Hub.
